Arcelik develops new inventions together with 9 separate R&D Centers located in its production plants, 1 R&D Office in Middle East Technical University Technopark and 1 R&D Office in Taiwan with more than 1000 researchers (32 Ph.D., 200 M.Sc.). R&D Expense of the company in 2013 was near 45 Million €. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a loan of EUR 100 million to Arcelik A.S. for its research and development programme to improve product performance and broaden its product range. Protecting its inventions with patent applications, Arcelik A.S. has over 2000 patents. Moreover, the company has been actively taking part in Eureka and Framework Programs and Arcelik conducted more than 20 EU projects since 1993. Arcelik A.S. is also the board member of the Networked and Electronic Media (NEM) European Technology Platform, and participating in Eureka Technology Clusters.
