AEROGELS Seminar 2018 in Hamburg – Key note speaker Kazuki Nakanishi supported aerogel based startup
The 4th International Seminar on AEROGELS 2018 will be opened with the key note lecture of Kazuki Nakanishi. Kazuki Nakanishi is Associate Professor at Kyoto University, Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science and heads a research group on Monolithic Porous Materials by Liquid-Phase Synthesis, including research on mesoporous aerogels.
Kazuki Nakanishi was awarded Award for Academic Startups (METI Minister’s Award) by Japan Science and Technology Agency on August 31, 2017. The Award for Academic Startups honours promising university-oriented startups and universities contributing to research as the basis for these startups and has been issued by METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Indsutry in Japan).
The prize has been awarded for SUFA which shall become the first transparent heat-insulating material based on aerogels producible at remarkable low cost. This material could be sandwiched between glass. Aerogels have the lightest weight and the highest heat insulating property among transparent materials on the earth.
Professor Kazuki Nakanishi will talk about the improvement of mechanical strength of aerogels without sacrificing their unique properties, i.e. transparency, high porosity and superinsulating property, as one of the profound issues to be solved.
