BASF Polyurethanes develops, produces and distributes the efficient and versatile special synthetic polyurethane (abbreviated PU). BASF is leading supplier of Polyurethane Solutions for systems, specialties and PU basic products. With its comprehensive product portfolio and custom-designed services, BASF is the preferred partner of its customers in many industries.
BASF has gained a lot of competencies within the development and characterisation of nanoporous materials. Recently, BASF tried to produce nanoporous materials via templating approaches in microemulsions as well colloidal dispersions. These experiences lead to start investigations of porous materials based on organic sol-gel chemistry which will be part of his project. In 2015 BASF is going to realise the world wide first pilot plant for the manufacturing of organic polyurethane aerogels branded SLENTITE®.
